Text Box: Already this year, we have had a viewing night at Crookhaven Heads Caravan Park on Sunday 6th January being the first fund raising exercise for the year. These viewing nights are an important part of the club activities, expelling our knowledge of astronomy to the public and providing a much needed revenue. If possible, members should make themselves available to do at least one of these a year.
Jack, Kim, Dan, Ben and Jon were at the park to show the visitors some of the objects in the night sky. A list of nebulae and clusters were observed such as the Orion Nebula, The Tarantula Nebula, 47 Tucana and Mars of coarse.
A reminder that the club has assets that can be borrowed by financial members. A couple of refractors, a 12” Newtonian & books in our library (see Ben or Chris).
There are still a few “Astronomy 2008” books left for members who would like to buy a copy, a moon chart and planisphere can also be purchased, (see Jon Strang).
Club viewing nights are held at the Nowra Public School on the first Saturday Night of each month and the meeting held on the Third Friday night of each month at the school.
This year we have started to negotiate speakers for the next couple of months so be sure to read your monthly Astro Flyer for more information.
